World Candle Day was celebrated for the second consecutive year

As an initiative of the Latin American and European associations of candle manufacturers, ALAFAVE and ECMA, respectively, on March 1st, World Candle Day was celebrated with the intention of encouraging the consumption of candles and promoting safe burning habits among consumers.

On that day the associations held a webinar entitled: “The safe use of candles begins by reading and understanding their label,” in which two experts in regulatory affairs also presented the pictograms approved by the European Union and ASTM for the safety of candle burning.

In February, ALAFAVE  held the webinar “Ideas to promote your company during World Candle Day”, as part of the preparations to celebrate World Candle Day. in which over 374  people received valuable information about digital strategies to enhance the marketing of their products.

Claudia Duque, communication, and marketing coordinator of ALAFAVE was the speaker for this webinar, she expressed her satisfaction after seeing the interest and high participation in this activity. “I see more and more manufacturers in Latin America relying on Instagram and Facebook to promote their products and that’s why we want to continue equipping them  with the right tools and advice,” Duque said.

Isabel Muench, executive director of ALAFAVE, reported that overall, the results were very positive despite the limitations caused by COVID-19. “Due to the pandemic, our members mainly organized digital campaigns and discounts on their products, however, a few manufacturers took the lead to do some face-to-face initiative with very interesting results,” Muench said.

Dilcia Torres, representative of the Venezuelan company Cera Artística CA shared their experience to commemorate World Candle Day: “Complying with all biosecurity measures, we opened up our facilities to a group of customers and local influencers to show them our production processes, we listened to their input on our Cerarctic decorative line. Without a doubt, it was a great experience for everyone.”

Isabel Muench hopes that more companies can gradually participate into this celebration and that, in the medium term, this day will have an important impact on consumers.
